Babies as young as 8 weeks old can start the Aquatots Programme. It is recommended that you start under 12 months old but Aquatots take babies up to 18 months old for the Duckling Starter level.
Duckling, Cygnet, and Dolphin levels make up the Aquatots Foundation Programme. All babies must start at Duckling level (from 8 weeks to 18 months old) and will learn approximately 28 exercises in their first term! One of the key exercises in this level is that the babies learn the ability to 'breath-hold', this is crucial and practise is essential.
Parents also perfect the ability to take their babies under the water and release them so that they can watch them doing their first free swim. We are looking for confident parents as well as confident babies and correct holds when doing each exercise will help gain confidence on both sides.
The majority of babies normally complete Duckling within 1 term. Thereafter, Cygnet, Dolphin and higher levels are based around a minimum of 18 weeks which normally takes at least 2 terms to master all the skills before moving on to the next stage.
